On Saturday night students who attended the regular Saturday night youth service (the Gate) got their feet washed. Their feet were washed, not because they stunk (although some did!), but because we followed the command of Jesus to his followers in John 13 –

You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.

If we want to see unity happen we have to be willing to lead our young people towards humility. The Kingdom of God embraces different values than the kingdom of man. The kingdom of man decives us into believing that if we are “right enough” or “strong enough (in numbers, volume, cool factor, etc)” we will see the coming of peace and love. However, Jesus teaches us that it if we become servants, who intrinsically know how to lay our lives down in sacrifice, we will see the Kingdom of God.

Jasmine and Sharon (both Juniors) led the majority of the service. Both did a great job.

This emerging generation has so much potential…especially if we give them the opportunity to lay down their lives to serve one another.
